Why I chose my major

I chose Human Development and Family Science as my major because I have always wanted to work in a helping profession. Understanding human development is essential to supporting others effectively, and this major has helped me learn what makes each person unique. Everyone experiences different challenges in life, and studying HDFS has shown me how a person’s environment and experiences shape their development.

I chose to complete the child life certificate to get a better grasp on the profession and how it pertains to human development. This certificate gave me access to classes that took a deeper dive into learning about what a child life specialist does.

What I like most about FACS

The faculty of FACS played a significant role in keeping me grounded throughout my degree. They were always welcoming and genuinely invested in my success. I was fortunate to learn from professors who were not only knowledgeable but also passionate about teaching. Each class was engaging and made me want to continue to learn and grow. I am truly grateful for the guidance and support the FACS community has provided me over the years.

Post-graduation plans

I plan to further my education by attending graduate school for a M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis or M.S. in Child Life.
