Why I chose my major

Coming into college, I knew I wanted to study something fundamental to human health, something that impacts daily life and can be applied in meaningful, practical ways. After facing my own health challenges growing up, I began working with a functional medicine doctor who reshaped the way I understood food and wellness. I witnessed firsthand how important nutrition is to one's quality of life through my own lived experience, and it inspired me to want to learn the science behind it.

I chose Nutritional Science because proper nutrition is one of the most important tools we have for improving health and preventing morbidities. Nutrition is something that affects every person, all the time, and I wanted to use my education to help others experience the same positive changes I did. Studying Nutritional Sciences at UGA has given me the foundation to make a lasting impact on both the individuals and communities around me.

What I like most about FACS

FACS truly feels like home. What I appreciate most is how interconnected the majors are and how holistically we approach learning. Our professors encourage us to think about real-world change and how our knowledge and our role in the workforce will shape our communities and our country in the future.

The faculty in FACS are deeply invested in student success and have created so many wonderful organizations and programs to further support our students. Their support, mentorship, and genuine care create an academic environment that sets up every student for success in their undergraduate studies as well as in the real world. Through my executive role in our honor society, I had the privilege of working closely with our faculty, and I could speak volumes of their character and dedication to our futures. Ultimately, there is no competition in FACS, just a community of caring, passionate individuals who want to make a difference. Being a part of this college has been an honor and an incredibly meaningful part of my time here at UGA.

Post-graduation plans

After graduation, I plan to backpack around Southeast Asia for a few months and then return to the States to continue my photography business as well as pursue a career in medical device sales. I also intend to return later for further study. I look forward to this next chapter and am thankful for the role FACS has played in getting me here.
