Georgia Disability Employment Initiative
In partnership with the Georgia Department of Economic Development-Workforce Division. The purpose of the Georgia DEI is to improve the job placement rates for youth and adults with significant disabilities in two workforce regions in the state by customizing access to credential-based education and training pathways offered through the technical college system in the focus areas of Agriculture, Healthcare, Hospitality, and Logistics. The project will focus on customizing career pathways in high-demand industries, facilitating cross-system collaboration and expansion of the capacity of the American Job Center system in Georgia to serve customers with significant disabilities.

Employment First
Employment First means that employment should be the first and preferred option for all people, regardless of their disability. The DD Network is part of a statewide coalition advocating for legislation that would make Georgia an Employment First state. This means that throughout Georgia’s social service system, meaningful employment would become a primary objective for all working-age Georgians with disabilities. More than 26 states have Employment First policies.
