Biography
Shakil Mahmud holds expertise in aerorel, MXene, e-textiles, polymers, and composites with six years of professional experience in the industry, complemented by superior excellence in academia. He recently began his PhD journey in Materials Science (major in Polymer, Fiber, and Textile Sciences) at the University of Georgia. Prior to this, he completed a thesis-based master’s degree in Smart Textiles at the University of Alberta, Canada, followed by working as a Research Assistant at the Nanofab and Smart Textiles Laboratory. Before pursuing graduate studies, Mr. Mahmud earned a bachelor’s degree in Textile Chemistry from the Bangladesh University of Textiles and received the prestigious Dean’s List Award for academic excellence.
His research focused on developing test devices and protocols for developing multifuctional aerogel, aerogel based fertilizers, MXene-based supercapacitor, e-textiles, and advanced EMI shielding materials. The six years of industry experience in Bangladesh endowed Mr. Mahmud with extensive research and development expertise, including innovative product development, textile testing, and quality control. In his professional journey, he worked with some renowned brands: Michael Kors, Carhartt, and M&S. Mr. Mahmud is confident in providing a positive contribution to the American e-textile, polymer, and composites market.
