- Why I chose my major
I chose HDFS because I have always had a passion for helping people and wanted to make a difference. I found my path by discovering the helping professions through my summer job at Camp Twin Lakes. I found love and acceptance for all in a place I never knew existed. This changed my life, and because of that, I chose FACS. I transferred to UGA the very next year. I have since then served over 3,000 hours through summer camp, weekend camps and work at ESP.
- What I like most about FACS
From the first class I ever walked into, I knew I had made the right choice. I was pursuing the major of my dreams, and I walked into a lecture hall full of 250. I remember finding my seat, looking around and waiting for class to begin. That’s when she entered. Dr. Dove entered the classroom, and the energy shifted. Garnished with her red and black, she introduced the class, and we started. Ever since then, I have loved FACS, because FACS is family. I have met lifelong mentors and friends and made memories I will never forget.
- Post-graduation plans
After graduation, I will be continuing my journey here at the University of Georgia, pursuing a master’s in social work. I want to continue following my passion and creating a positive difference in everyone I meet. I hope to continue working with people with disabilities and create a world in which they feel safe, valued and loved.
